Round 1 game in the Hunt museum tournament on Sunday 18th June 2023 bd 2 Con Kirby v Aldo Gaxha critical position. Con has just played h5! and Aldo has a double attack on Con's f4 pawn, with both players having just over a minute left on their clocks. Hunt Summer Garden tournament 2023 Round 2 Scott Fitzgerald v James Naughton. The players are very relaxed during this tournament.
Round 2 Brendan Kennedy v Matthew O'Connor. Young Matthew who is uncastled is about to push h5-h4, sacrificing his N on g4 to the h3 pawn, then push his h pawn down to force open the h file and brought his Q onto the h file to threaten a mate on h1 which Brendan somehow missed. Quickest win of rd 2 because fortune favours the bold.
Hunt Summer Garden tournament 2023 Round 2 Conor Sheehan v Lukasz Daros. A very sharp game from both players but draw agreed. So it went to a 3 + 2 blitz playoff(next photo).
Hunt Summer Garden tournament 2023 Round 2 Lukasz Daros v Conor Sheehan 3 min + 2 sec playoff. Material is even and Lukasz has an attack along the b file but can't break through. Conor has 14 sec and Lukasz has 17 seconds on the clock but it was Lukasz whose time ran out. Such are the fine margins in a chess game.
