The Limerick Open 2022 was held on 4th-6th November at the West County hotel Ennis. There were 104 entries in both the Philip Hogarty Open(57 players ) and the Under 1400 Sections(47 players).

Phillip Hogarty Open:
Joint First prize: James Naughton(Limerick) and Blair Connell(England) who finished on 4.5/5 points.
In Round 5, the 7th seed James Naughton beat 2nd ranked IM Oleg Gubanov, from Ukraine then won the best of 3 3 min + 2 sec blitz playoff games against top ranked Blair Connell(England) to win the perpetual trophy which is a solid two tier wooden carved chess set with a chess problem position.
Joint Third prize was shared by 3 players: FM Rory Quinn(Ennis), Adam Collins(Kilkenny) and Klaus Weih(Germany) all on 4/5 points

2022 Limerick Open 2022 joint 3rd prize winner FM Rory Quinn(Ennis). Rory recently gained the FM title for his fine performance at the Euro teams championship held in Austria.
