Munster Championship 2016 Report, Results and Standings(5 rounds)

The Munster Championships 2016 was held on the weekend 16th-18th Sept at the West County Hotel in Ennis. There were 34 entries in both the Senior(16 players ) and the Joe Browne Sections(18 players).

Prize winners list:

First prize:

In the Senior section, Paul Walsh(Sarsfield club) finished in clear first on 4/5.

Round 4 co-leader FM Philip Short lost in round 5 to Rory Quinn(Ennis) thus allowing Paul Walsh to grab sole first in the final standings after a draw with Gerry D. McCarthy(CCYMS), and win the perpetual trophy on 4/5 points.

Second prize:

Rory Quinn(Ennis), FM Philip Short, Piotr Leichert(Cork), and Gerry D. McCarthy(CCYMS) shared joint second on 3.5/5 points

Grading prize:

Piotr Leichert on 3.5/5.

In the Joe Browne section,Joint first prize went to Erick McPherson(Cork) and P J O'Reilly(Longford) on 4.5/6 points, with Erick winning the Joe Browne trophy in a blitz playoff.

Joint Third prize was won by Kerry Tyrrell and James Naughton(Limerick)on 4/6 points.

Grading prize: Con Kirby on 3/6
